Mechanical and Impact Testing
NCCEF's state-of-the-art Instron Composites Laboratory houses eight Instron testing Machines.
Equipped with environmental chambers (-100?C to 350?C), the testing machines carry high speed cameras, contacting and video extensometers.
NCCEF's Instron machines are controlled by the latest version of WaveMatrix dynamic testing) & Bluehill (static) software and can test properties such as tensile strength/stiffness, compressive strength/stiffness, flexural properties and impact tolerance.
Tests can be performed under quasi-static or fatigue conditions and at sub-zero or elevated temperatures. This lab is supported by Instron Ltd as part of a collaboration to design and improve composite testing.
