• We are unique in the strength and depth of our testing capabilities
  
• We have one of the largest and best equipped composite textile research units in Europe (with manufacturing capabilities)
  
• We have a comprehensive suite of damage evaluation facilities (including a £ 2.8 million X ray tomography)
  
• We are independently run, whereas many of the alternative test houses are members of Industrial groups who also manufacture and supply components or materials, potentially in competition with the test and evaluation customers
  
• As an autonomous department within the largest school of materials in Europe and through its association with the North West Composites Centre whose members include the Universities of Bolton, Glyndwr, Lancaster and Liverpool, the NCCEF has an unrivalled ability to provide the expert knowledge to analyze and interpret test and evaluation work carried out by the centre
